Belly Dancing

Join Catherine Blackwell for this introduction to bellydancing in a judge-free environment. Blackwell has trained in Egyptian, Turkish, Greek, Indian, and American tribal styles. She is passionate about sharing what she has learned with others while taking inspiration from her students as they explore their creative spirit.

Botanical Sketchbook

This class explores a variety of drawing techniques such as directional line making, hatching, scrumbling, and stippling, focused on drawing botanicals of all kinds. Explore lessons in basic shading, perspective, and directional light sources. Beginners and more advanced artists are welcome. $12 drop in/$10 with punch card

Chair Yoga

This class promotes deep breathing, mindfulness, and inward listening. Chair Yoga is suitable for beginners and experienced Yoga students. Anyone can benefit from a chair yoga practice. $12 drop in/$10 with punch card

Chess Club

Folk Art Painting
Tuesdays 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
July 1 - 29th
Folk art often simplifies the subject by using geometric shapes, bold colors, and no constraints on proportions. In this folk art class, students will focus on recognizing basic geometric shapes of animals, people, and foliage and incorporate those crude shapes into creating folk art style subjects. Students will experiment with using coordinating and contrasting colors to bring drama into their art. Students will also explore
techniques of painting boldly and loosely. $50 for the series (no class 7/15)
Suggested Supply List: *Basic Acrylic starter set–I use Liquitex or Golden brand tubes (Set should include white, yellow, blue, red, black and possibly a green) *Set of acrylic brushes (combo of flat and filbert) *Stretched canvas (9x12 or 8x10 is fine) *Palette (something simple–can be reusable plastic or the disposable palette sheets of paper) *Sketchbook (any size) *Pencil with eraser

The Hook & Needle
Monthly on 2nd Monday

"The Hook and Needle" is a social group for crochet, knitting, and quilting enthusiasts. We work on our own projects, share ideas and techniques, and donate blankets to Project Linus (optional). Beginners are welcome!

Life Drawing
Third Wednesdays 1pm - 4pm
Monthly starting in August
These monthly open studio 3-hour sessions are for adult artists of all levels wanting to build their figure drawing skills. No instruction is provided, but a moderator will be present. An experienced nude model will provide short gestures, then longer poses. Watercolors are okay, but no oils, acrylics, or digital media. Pre-registration is required: $20/session ($15 for WCC Friends of the Gallery). NO PHOTOGRAPHY OR CELL PHONE USE IN THE STUDIO.

Oil Painting
Wednesdays 1pm - 3pm

Unlock your inner artist and discover the joy of creating art with us! This class covers essential topics such as color theory, awareness of values, and how to critique a painting. Join anytime and work at your own pace. Dortha Jacobson leads the class. $12 drop in/$10 with punch card

Tai Chi/Qi Gong
Wednesdays 11am - 12pm
Tai Chi/Qi Gong offers participants many health benefits including: initiating the "relaxation response"; enhancing the efficiency of the immune system, cell metabolism, and tissue regeneration; reduction of blood pressure; and increased mental clarity. Valerie Fagan & Jim Pinneau, certified Tai Chi and Qi Gong teachers lead the class. $12 drop in/$10 with punch card
